Q. What are the benefits of seal coating?

It extends the life span of your driveway or parking lot.

Q. What is the preparation of the asphalt before it gets sealed?
A.
Grass and vegetation will be removed with wire wheel, heat lance or weed wackers.
A. Surface will be blown off with high velocity blowers and wire brooms if necessary.

Q. Do you fill every crack in the asphalt?
A.
We will fill the cracks stated on our proposal.

Q. Will my driveway or parking lot be barricaded during and after it has been sealed?
A.
Driveways will be blocked off with string, flagging tape and steaks. Parking lots will usually be blocked off with safety cones and flagging tape.

Q. What type of sealer do you use?
A.
Pellin Asphalt LLC uses coal tar emulsion sealer that contains 48% to 52% solids. It is a premium commercial grade sealer not available in retail stores. The sealer is made up of refined coal tar, selected clays, sand, water and emulsifiers. We use sand to fill in voids and imperfections in the asphalt and to give better traction.

Q. How many coats of sealer do I need?

We recommend one coat of sealer on driveways and two coats of sealer on parking lots.

Q. How often should I seal my asphalt?
A.
We recommend sealing every 2-3 years depending on how much traffic it gets.
